ALCO Consulting were engaged during 2007 to provide strategic support and advice to the Passenger and Accessible Transport Service (P&ATS) of the London Borough of Camden in achieving its vision of providing a `fully integrated passenger and accessible transport service to older and disabled citizens of Camden’.
ALCO used its extensive experience in the use of ICT, service development and strategic management within a public service environment to effectively identify the practical actions, systems and procedures needed for P&ATS to deliver its vision for a fully integrated service.
ALCO worked very closely and interactively with staff at all levels in P&ATS, including engaging at chief officer level, a commitment to their role in facilitating the development of the service. ALCO conducted regular on-site reviews, attended user engagement forums, explored the challenges faced by the Management Team and provided advice at key intervals in the integration process.
As a result of ALCO’s work P&ATS has made noticeable improvements and is seeing beneficial changes in performance, service delivery, staff morale, and strategic management and efficiency gains. In particular, the development of the `Framework Policy Handbook’ by ALCO provides an ongoing tool for P&ATS to use in focusing and developing its strategic direction and delivering corporate objectives.
The ALCO team provided a very professional, flexible and comprehensive service focussed towards delivering the original brief. They were at all times, approachable, flexible and knowledgeable in their respective areas of expertise. Hence I have no hesitation in recommending them to other local authorities and agencies in similar or allied areas.
