The Post Office wished to enter new customer focussed ICT markets as its traditional paper based services decline. ALCO Consulting were asked to carry out due diligence on a target acquisition by the Post Office.
The implementation of ICT should offer great benefits to organisations but all too often it fails to live up to its expectations. This should be no surprise as new technology is often alien to the business and expertise of the client organisation; so great reliance is placed on the supplier whose best interests are not always aligned with that of their client.
ALCO Consulting’s business is all about ensuring that ICT is used in the best interests of the client’s business not just as an end in itself. We have expertise in the full spectrum of skills needed to successfully implement an ICT project and are passionate about transferring that knowledge to our clients as part of our value-add to their business and a lasting benefit.
ALCO Consulting acts for the client organisation as a specialist advisor and provides oversight of the procurement process and the chosen supplier to ensure proper implementation, installation and training are carried out. We advise on what other work is required to ensure that the new technology is successfully integrated into the organisation and is delivering on its promise, including where necessary staffing reorganisation and process reengineering, all areas where ALCO Consulting can advise as part of its global experience and ICT expertise.
Most importantly we provide that vital independent outside view that is able to ask the challenging but constructive questions and enable our clients to really test out the robustness of their decisions and direction: A role that is increasingly being recognised as a vital part of good corporate and project governance and control. We provide a variety of critical friend services from board-level non-executive and special advisor roles to project level third party certification, management up-skilling, project assurance and policy and strategy development.
