ALCO Consulting acted as client-side advisor to Irish Rail from start to finish of a project to install a smartcard ticketing system in Dublin, Ireland. The system was installed on time and on budget and is proving to be highly successful.
Finding high-calibre individuals to manage operational programmes and projects or to function within the key roles of a project is no easy task, especially now that new and emergent technologies are enabling new business models, new ways of working and more ambitious objectives.
It is often the case that in ICT enablement projects, teams are overly weighted in terms of ICT knowledge, or centred around the ‘business’ with limited knowledge of operational activities. This often delays full deployment, transition and cut over from obsolete increasing cost and constraining operations as originally envisaged meaning that planned objectives and benefits are not achieved when expected if at all.
ALCO personnel are highly experienced in all major roles and functions within ICT projects. Working globally and across domains, our personnel have a wealth of experience and lessons learned from others that will be brought to bear in any delivery and operational project role. This is especially true when the outcome is dependent on the application of new technologies and business models. The addition of globally experienced personnel is a distinct advantage.
ALCO Consulting has a wealth of practical experience in all these areas and best supporting our clients. For further details and references, please contact any member of the ALCO Consulting team.
I’ve had the pleasure of working with ALCO Consulting on two smartcard projects. Alan Leibert and Chris Shoukry were invaluable members of both teams, particularly during the procurement, proposal evaluation, and system planning phases. I would not hesitate to recommend them to any transit organisation.
