The essence of persuading users to take up and use ICT based systems is Trust. Is it simple to use? Is it accessible for me with my needs? Is it secure? Can other people impersonate me?
Other Trust issues are linked to the range of services available. Does the ICT environment provide me with everything I need? If not, why should I bother to use it at all?
In practice Trust equates to take-up and sustainability. Thus the essence of a successful ICT system is one in which user trust is ensured. This means that the trust issue must be considered and addressed from the outset.
